When a student inputs the first letter of a word, the software presents a list of possible words beginning with that letter. As each additional letter is added, the list is refined. When the intended word appears in the list, the student selects it, often by clicking on it or typing its number, which inserts the word into the document. Auditory support is often provided for students who have difficulty reading words presented in the list.
